 Most French motorways are operated by private companies. This map shows the motorways which this particular company runs. On a lot of French motorways, you get a ticket from a machine when you enter, then when you leave you put that ticket into another machine which looks up how much you have to pay. Yesterday, I turned from a motorway owned by one company to one owned by another company while within a toll section, and was surprised to find that the payment machine on the second motorway accepted the ticket from the first.
