My next sign is the blue bar on the building across the road, below the green banner, so again I'm parking at a supermarket and doing some shopping. I bought a Toblerone of course, since I'm in Switzerland. The shop also had a good selection of loose fruit. I had a look around to see if it looked like there were any complications to buying some, like having to weigh it myself, but there were no signs of any scales so I went ahead and put some apricots in a bag. When I came to pay, the very cheerful cashier told me that I should have weighed it so I ran back and had another look and found that there were two scales, both quite a long way away from where the apricots were. On trying to use them though I found that there was no menu of fruits to choose from. Instead it asked for a product number. Glancing at whatever fruit was on display closest I saw that it did have a three digit number on it so I wove my way around the other shoppers back to the apricot display, looked up the number, then back to the scales which printed a sticker for me, then back to the till, where a queue was building up. I wonder what you're meant to do if you are buying lots of different types of fruit: do you walk over to the scales with each one separately or do you have to write down the all numbers as you bag your fruit and then take them all to the scales?
