 When I was looking at the options for hotels in Little Rock, I saw that a lot of them described how close they were to the Simmons Bank Arena. I assumed that it was an arena named after part of one bank of the Arkansas River, which was probably in turn named after an early settler. As I sit here sipping my limeade slushy though, I see that Simmons Bank is actually a chain of banks so they must just sponsor the arena. Now that I've looked it up, I see that they are based in Pine Bluff, not far from here, and that the first ever intercontinental ATM withdrawal took place in 1984 when a Simmons Bank customer got money out of a machine in Australia.
